/01The Ensemble

A living dialogue between Bengal & the world.

Avartan is a contemporary musical ensemble dedicated to Bengal's rich cultural heritage — reframed for the modern stage. The group seamlessly blends Indian Classical, Bengali Folk, Western Jazz, World Music and traditional percussion.

Curated by Karnajit Roy of the Farukkabad Gharana, each performance is a rhythmic conversation — Tabla, Dhak, Khol and Madol meeting saxophone, keyboards and Baul voices from the villages of Birbhum.
